Summarize;

Parents of 21st century is faced on the problem how to combine television-viewing and encouraging their toddlers and infants to appreciate literature even at young age. The other challenge is how to find time to spend with kids during their formative years in these times of two-income families. These are ways how to nurture the kids to be literature enthusiasts.

Enjoyable books should be read as often as infants respond to them. Parents must share the continuously beauty of language through the repeated readings of favorite stories. Singing songs, reading stories, doing simple finger plays, and playing games with a high amount of adult-child interaction are the best ways to encourage a connection with literature. Some parents say that the lure of the television and the new media technology on the children does not seem to keep them in a way of getting them to read. Limiting children’s viewing to DVD’s keeps the material in check. The introduction to fun books and video productions are great help in teaching their kids how to read the text.

Reaction and Implementation (Pp. 42)

In my opinion, I agree on how parents combine the television-viewing and encouraging their kids on literature. It’s better not to expose too much their young ones on TV. Allowing the kids to watch an educational cartoons or movie would help them to learn. Watch or guide the kids watch on the TV. It’s enjoyable for kids to read a book with colored pictures. For me, reading text books, fairy tale books, are the best way to learn the kids because reading is very interesting, fun, and enjoyable and you can explore everything on a book than of the TV. It allows the kid to learn more when he reaches the pre-school years so that it is easy for him to adapt the lessons.
